چکیده

Several parameters of ribonuclease activity have been determined in a series of transplantable rat tumors and liver from the host rats. These include ribonuclease inhibitor activity, pH activity curves, and the distribution and specific activity of acid and alkaline ribonuclease in subcellular fractions. For those hepatomas studied, compared with liver from the tumor-bearing animal, the following changes were observed: ribonuclease inhibitor in all hepatomas was lower (two exceptions); the percentage of acid and alkaline ribonuclease in the mitochondrial fraction was greatly lowered; the percentage of acid or alkaline ribonuclease in the nuclear fraction was either unchanged or elevated; the percentage of alkaline ribonuclease in the microsomal fraction was nearly doubled, and this was accompanied by a large increase in specific enzyme activity; and acid ribonuclease was considerably increased in the supernatant fraction. Many other changes were found but they were not observed in all the tumors.

Survey of some enzyme patterns in transplantable Reuber mouse hepatomas.

by injections of hormones6 (20), by theophylline,6 or by adrenalectomy6 (20). These studies have emphasized the diversity of enzyme patterns and adaptive responses present in transplantable rat hepatomas with a wide spectrum of growth rates (6). Recently, a series of transplantable mouse hepatomas of spontaneous origin has been developed, the occurrence of which was first reported by Andervont ...

Activities of some enzymes of pyrimidine and DNA synthesis in a rat transplantable hepatoma and human primary hepatomas, in cell lines derived from these tissues, and in human fetal liver.

Activites of the enzymes DNA polymerase, thymidine kinase, thymidylate kinase, thymidylate synthase, and deoxycytidylate deaminase have been measured in rat and human normal and neoplastic liver, in human fetal liver, and in cell lines derived from human hepatomas and rat transplantable hepatomas. The activities of these enzymes were increased in rat transplantable hepatomas, relative to rat no...

Changes in the PPla mRNA Level and PP1 Activity of Ascites Hepatomas at Different Cell Growth Rates

It is now well established that the type la of serine/threonine protein phosphatases (PP1α) may be implicated in malignant phenotype. Although the PP1α mRNA level increased in livers at preneo-plastic stages of hepatocarinogenesis and all of examined rat ascites hepatomas, unexpectedly, dra-matically decreased in some of primary hepatomas. In order to elucidate the low level of PP1α mRNA in som...

Characterization of glycogen synthetases and phosphorylases in transplantable rat hepatomas.

A study of the chemical and kinetic properties of a series of transplantable, chemically induced rat hepatomas has revealed profound alterations in isozyme patterns of glycogen synthetase and phosphorylase. Highly differentiated, slow-growing hepatomas retain the liver-type isozymes, but with decreased differentiation and increased growth rate these are largely or entirely replaced by nonhepati...
